(most are female) over the past 20 years i have discovered the following input from the lady shooters: none of the ladies liked shooting the magnum pistols in either .357 or .44. it was just too painful and it wiped out their night vision in a darkened environment. only 40% of the ladies were able to shoot the 1911 full-sized .45 acp well with full-power loads. (i figure in a shtf scenario, we will all be scavenging ammo and other battle-field pick-ups) the percentage increased only if they were firing reduced-power hand loads. (50%) most of the ladies liked and were proficient shooting the 9 mm full-sized pistols and .38 special revolvers with a medium frame and a four inch barrel. and most important, they enjoyed shooting these pistols frequently. the reason they liked these weapons as opposed to the other ones is that there was enough weight and mass to hang on to during recoil yet they are heavy enough that the recoil is not painful. this input is for people who are thinking of purchasing a gun for the mrs. in the near future. ladies tend to look to the small or compact guns for protection. if it is a small, light weapon firing a full power .38 special or 9 mm, the resulting recoil can be nasty. to demonstrate this to the ladies, i will usually bring out the .38 snubnose (s&w chiefs special) or my khar cw in 9 mm. most of the ladies dislike the recoil and the blast of these weapons. i continue to tell people looking to purchase a firearm to try it before you buy it. that is part of the reason i bring out a variety of pistols for ladies to shoot. i have been keeping track of what most ladies like to shoot for over 15 years now so i hope that some readers of this blog can get some useful advice prior to spending a lot of money on a new pistol that may never be used. the .40 smith and wesson was not addressed here because it is not very widely available round outside this country. ballistically, it is very similar to the .45 acp. it has been establishing a good track record in stopping angry humans within police agencies. for the castle, (home) we have a remington 870 in 20 gauge. it is small, light and faster handling for my wife. ammo is ordered from midway-usa or ordered through a local gunshop. at home it is stoked with #3 buckshot. (about 24 caliber pellets) although it is not the fabled 00 buckshot, it is formidable within 20 yards. i also go shooting at clay birds with my wife and i taught her to aim for body parts (groin, legs, feet, hands and arms) rather than center mass in event that opponent is wearing body armor. if it don t kill em, it will surely mark em for the proper authorities. i now longer reload my trap loads because it is no longer cost effective. i continue to reload light buckshot loads for my police officer friends who must put down injured animals on the side of the road. these are simply 12 ga. trap loads where i substituted 9 pellets of single ought buck shot for the 1 1/8 oz of # 8 shot. within 20 yards, they do a good job with less wear and tear on your shoulder. that combination makes this load very popular with the female officers i know. bulk buckshot can be ordered through midway-usa and hornady manufatures and sells buckshot in 5 lb bags. as to chiller and the anti-personal mines or other devices, i am a big believer in the dangers of flammables and compressed, canned gasoline or propane cannisters remotely detonated. few things in life cannot be accomplished with the aid of judicious amounts of high-explosive - arson investigator. http://kjmigat.com [url=http://bsfkvhr.com]bsfkvhr[/url] [link=http://jxklwsyyci.com]jxklwsyyci[/link]
